About Us

Melissa's Happy Dogs uses a balanced training method and is located in Enterprise, AL.

What is balanced training?

In the simplest form, balanced training refers to dog training or behavior modification that involves the use of both reward-based techniques and unfavorable consequences.

We use positive reinforcements (food, physical touch, and/or verbal rewards) to encourage the behavior we want. We also use negative reinforcements (leash corrections, e-collar corrections, and/or a firm verbal "no") to discourage the behavior we don't want.

What makes us different?

Melissa's Happy Dogs is very family oriented. Our staff is family, your dog will feel like part of the family, and will be loved like one of our own. Dogs will spend time around situations they may encounter once they return home (visitors, lunch with family, deliveries, exposure to children, and even our cats stop in to say hi). Dogs also spend a lot of time playing with other dogs, doing group/pack activities like off-leash walks and place work.

Services

All camps are board-and-train ONLY (your dog will remain with us for the duration of camp).

All camp graduate owners will receive a 1.5 hour pick-up session where we go over owner education, hands-on training, and post-training guidance.

You will become a member of our exclusive Facebook group where you can see update videos/pictures of your dog, have access to our video library (how-to videos, educational videos, etc.), free in-person reminder classes, and be part of the Melissa's Happy Dogs community where owners share experiences and have access to trainer feedback.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

5 months or older

Complete and up-to-date vaccinations (Bordatella, DHPP, Rabies)

Dogs must be quarantined at home for 2 weeks prior to time of training (No boarding/daycare, groomer, dog park, or vet facility visits)

Male dogs MUST be neutered if 8 months or older at time of training

Female dogs MUST NOT be in heat at time of training

Owners are required to watch the "Going Home" video prior to their pick-up session and have a general understanding of the tools we use

Designed for dogs who have high anxiety, extreme fearfulness, are reactive/aggressive towards other dogs and/or people, or if they have bitten another dog or attempted to bite a person.
